Rogers Park PTA is hosting a brand new fundraiser, Jog-A-Thon 2017!
During this event, students will spend a short part of their school day helping to raise funds by jogging or walking loops behind Rogers Park. Fundriaising envelopes will be distrubuted in early September.
Please consider donating to this event and returning your child’s fundraising envelopes by September 25.
The goal for the new Jog-A-Thon is to raise about $10,000 to pay for many types of expenses that are important to teachers and parents, but wouldn’t be possible without additional funds.
Rogers Park has no budget for these valued services and activities, other than what the PTA can raise:
Helping every teacher pay for classroom supplies and special projects
Paying for field trips fees and bus costs, making it easier for children to attend these trips without requiring parent drivers
Running the mediator program, which is valued by Rogers Park teachers and staff and trains dozens of children to be mediators each school year
Supporting all the school clubs and special after-school events, including the art, club, garden club, sports camps, running club, and STEM nights.
This event will be replacing the annual Fall/Spring Getaway fundraiser and will be one of two large events held this year. We look forward engageing with families in new ways and are excited to offer this opportunity for all famlies to participate in fundraising efforts.

Events in August and September
August is when we welcome new and returning students to Rogers Park with an Ice Cream Social/Open House. Our children get to meet their teachers and find out which friends will be in their classroom. This is a community event that is open to everyone. We celebrate the summer and the beginning of a new school year. Everyone is encouraged to participate. Great time and great people. During this Open House you can meet the teachers, staff, PTA, and tour the facility. Ask questions and receive support. This is also a PTA general meeting date.
We have put in place a support team the helps with the start of each new school year. During these first days of school we have hall monitors for directional help and we support safe routes to school with traffic crossing duties. These roles are supported by volunteers. When you get the chance, thank them for their time given to make our school safer and helpful to others. We remind parents that in the morning, parking along the building is not allowed. This area is designated a drop off zone only. Parents should stay with their vehicle and please no engine idle. Air in-take is on this side of the building and the car fumes do enter the building and create breathing difficulties for some. Our parking lot speed limit is 5 mph. And please be on the look out for running children between traffic and for car doors that may open in front of your driving path.
We also offer a support system and opportunity for parents of new students (K-1) to meet the PTA and other parents during our Coffee, Cookies, and Kleenex event. This is held the first day of school immediately after drop off of the students. This is the perfect time to take a tour of the school and ask questions. For example you can find out where the school nurse can be found. We are here to help in any way we can for all new parents. If your child is an older student you are welcome to attend the event, we are excited to meet new people and offer support.
After the first semester we encourage strong working relations with the home and offer Parent University. Here skills are presented to parents and the lessons learned are taken home to make the child's learning development stronger. This event is open to everyone to attend. We offer day care support for the children. Parents don't miss out on this enrichment opportunity!
