Scholastic Book Fair
Our library is 100% sustained through proceeds from our Book Fairs. We use funds to purchase new books to engage our young readers and support programs like Battle of the Books.
The whole school is excited about our upcoming Book Fair with an amazing selection of books headed our way! Students will have the opportunity to preview books the week of 2/19 and the Book Fair will be open during parent/teacher conferences 2/21 and 2/22

This is a PTA event to raise $10,000 for our ice-skating program. Spirit, the UAA mascot, will be there to cheer on students as they skate. Students who raise $50 or more will be invited to an Ice Cream Social.
Students will take home a Skate-A-Thon envelope and ask family, friends, and neighbors to sponsor them for a flat amount to sponsor their skating efforts. Students must bring the signed envelope to school with a minimum $1 sponsor to participate. We will mark each child’s envelope with the number of laps they skated to take home and collect their pledges. Envelopes are due by Wednesday, February 28th
Want to help even if you don’t want to skate? – fifth and sixth graders have the option of skating or being a Skate-A-Thon Assistant. Helpers will still need to return their envelopes, but will be sponsored for counting laps, tying skates, cheering and passing out drinks and snacks.
Parents and Grandparents – We Please consider volunteering. We have several openings to tie skates, event set up, sort through permission slips, and of course, cheer on your skater. Sign up here.

Events in August and September
August is when we welcome new and returning students to Rogers Park with an Ice Cream Social/Open House. Our children get to meet their teachers and find out which friends will be in their classroom. This is a community event that is open to everyone. We celebrate the summer and the beginning of a new school year. Everyone is encouraged to participate. Great time and great people. During this Open House you can meet the teachers, staff, PTA, and tour the facility. Ask questions and receive support. This is also a PTA general meeting date.
We have put in place a support team the helps with the start of each new school year. During these first days of school we have hall monitors for directional help and we support safe routes to school with traffic crossing duties. These roles are supported by volunteers. When you get the chance, thank them for their time given to make our school safer and helpful to others. We remind parents that in the morning, parking along the building is not allowed. This area is designated a drop off zone only. Parents should stay with their vehicle and please no engine idle. Air in-take is on this side of the building and the car fumes do enter the building and create breathing difficulties for some. Our parking lot speed limit is 5 mph. And please be on the look out for running children between traffic and for car doors that may open in front of your driving path.
We also offer a support system and opportunity for parents of new students (K-1) to meet the PTA and other parents during our Coffee, Cookies, and Kleenex event. This is held the first day of school immediately after drop off of the students. This is the perfect time to take a tour of the school and ask questions. For example you can find out where the school nurse can be found. We are here to help in any way we can for all new parents. If your child is an older student you are welcome to attend the event, we are excited to meet new people and offer support.
After the first semester we encourage strong working relations with the home and offer Parent University. Here skills are presented to parents and the lessons learned are taken home to make the child's learning development stronger. This event is open to everyone to attend. We offer day care support for the children. Parents don't miss out on this enrichment opportunity!
